About Me

I am a writer and musician currently based in Bismarck, North Dakota. I write academic books and articles on 19th century Gothic literature, poetry about goblins and old monster films, and darkly humorous fiction. I’m the author of Cornerboys, a fairy tale poem and short film, and the editor of the Valancourt edition of Sheridan Le Fanu’s 1872 vampire novella Carmilla. I’ve published poems in Strange Horizons and The Lumberyard, and literary criticism in Literary London, The Irish Literary Review, Yemassee, and Dickens Quarterly. My one-man show Spirits of Dickens will be performed beginning in the spring of 2010.

I also play guitar as a solo artist and as a member of Blind Mice.

Jamie-
D and I are stunned and awed!!! Huge congrats on Cornerboys! I remember reading it a few years ago and you have brought it to life in such an amazingly chilling way – it went from great to spectacular! I miss being around such rediculously talented people (how is your family, by the way?) One of these days I’ll be back for these events!
